Broker Requirements for MID

Norwich Union requires all brokers to submit policy information ideally within 24 hours, but no later than 5 calendar days after the effective date of any renewal, new business, or policy change.

See a full summary of our requirements below.

Personal Lines Business

  • Changes (vehicle, title, address or named driver details)
Where the business is not Full Cycle EDI, you must advise us of these changes.
  • Renewals
You must advise us if the policy is lapsed or details changed. This should not be notified via your monthly statement. If the policy is renewed, you do not need to tell us.

Commercial Business

(Specified Vehicle Fleet, Farm Plus, Farm Safe, MiniFleet, Truck, Taxis and Special Types)

  • Changes (vehicle, title, address or named driver details)
You must advise us of any chages to the policy
  • Renewals
You must advise us if the renewal is taken up, or if the policy is to be changed or lapsed. This should not be notified via your monthly statement. We cannot automatically assume the policy is renewed and need your explicit instructions.

All of the above actions must be reported to us ideally within 24 hours but no later than 5 days after the effective date of any renewal, new business, or policy change.

In order to help meet the MID requirements, we need you to also:

  • provide renewal or lapse advice by renewal date for Unspecified Vehicle Fleets and Motor Trade policies.
  • ensure that the correct vehicle registration number is advised on all documentation.
  • check that documentation is sent to the correct Norwich Union address.
  • ensure a copy of any covernote is passed to us on the date the covernote was issued.
  • ensure lapse advice is sent within five days of renewal (other than for Unspecified Vehicle Fleets and Motor Trade policies) and not held back to be sent with account settlement at the end of the month.

Details of the MID requirement is outlined in your Terms of Business Agreement. If you have any queries or concerns about meeting these requirements, please contact your Account Manager immediately.
