Useful tips for completing a Premier Truck quotation

- Partnerships or Joint Insureds should be rated as Firms
- Individuals cannot trade as limited companies
- If your client states that they are exempt from holding an Operators licence, please ensure we are given a very specific reason why. There are few circumstances which would be classed as an exemption. (VOSA - Vehicle Operators & Services Agency www.vosa.gov.uk may be able to help with any queries)
- If input as Firms there is no need to show an 'age of policyholder'
- Firms - By restricting the driving to up to 5 Named drivers, we can offer a more competitive premium
- For Individuals / sole traders - By restricting the driving to up to 4 named drivers we can offer a more competitive premium.
- Horseboxes can be shown as Own Goods use (providing they are not being used for hire & reward)
- Skip vehicles can be rated as Own Goods
- Remember that the value of the vehicle is a rating factor. Valuations should be realistic.
- Discounts are available for approved security devices
- Vehicles such as Mobile Shops / Hot food-dispensing vehicles, concrete mixers and Vehicle transporters may need to meet additional criteria, refer to your Small Business Insurance Centre for more details or to the Premier Truck Rating Guide.
NCD
We now accept previous employers letters as proof of claim free driving
Letter must include: Name of driver, dates of employment, confirm regular use of 7.5T+ vehicle, Insurers name and permission to approach, details of claims experience and be signed by the previous employer.
Introductory NCD is now 20%
Policyholder is aged 25 years or older or is a Firm, no accidents/convictions during the last 12 months, no NCD entitlement in their own name (except introductory NCD on another vehicle) and has held a licence to drive the proposed vehicle for a year.
Mirroring NCD
For additional vehicles, where we already hold the other vehicle, we will match the level of NCD earned on the other vehicle. This is providing the driving is restricted to Insured Only to Drive or Named Drivers. If the driving option is Open driving, we will only allow a maximum of 2 years NCD discount
Subject to the criteria for allowance of introductory NCD and the driver of the vehicle is aged 25 years or over and had held a licence to drive the type of vehicle for 3 years.
Next steps after obtaining a premium
Remember if you wish to proceed with a Premier Truck Online quotation you need to do the following:
- Select 'Print' to issue a copy of your 'Premier Truck Online quote including Premium Amount'.
- Some fields may not display the full number of the characters in a line when the document is printed. Please ensure that details as the Address and Full Names are shown when any prints are sent to the Small Business Insurance Centre. This will avoid delays when issuing a policy.
- Select 'Accept' to complete the following page relating to 'Additional Details'
- Once you have completed the 'Additional Details' select 'Print' to issue a copy of your 'Premier Truck Additional Details'
- Send in the printed 'Premier Truck Online quote including Premium Amount', 'Premier Truck Additional Details' along with a copy inception covernote (on date of issue) to your usual Small Business Insurance Centre
- Within 30 calendar days, please send:
- A client signed copy of this form
- NCD proof and
- Any supporting documentation
- Please remember to include any relevant certificate of installation for security devices.
