Group Personal Accident

Provides for a benefit to be payable in the event that a person covered under the policy suffers an accident and the accident results in death, or a permanent or short-term disability.

Cover is provided on one of three different operative levels, 24 hour (continuous basis), occupational only or occupational including commuting.

The cover available under Group Personal Accident is split into two types; capital benefits and weekly benefits.

Death and Capital Sums benefits provide a lump sum payment for an accident causing:

  • Death
  • Loss of Limb(s) - includes loss of use of a limb
  • Loss of Eye(s)
  • Loss of Hearing
  • Loss of Speech
  • Permanent Total Disablement

Weekly Benefits

In addition, weekly benefits may be taken to provide cover for an accident which causes bodily injury resulting in disablement which prevents a person from working.

The weekly benefit payment can be used by an employer to contribute to the salary payments which continue to be made to the injured employee.

The weekly benefits are available as two separate options:

  • Temporary Total Disablement
  • Temporary Partial Disablement
  • The normal period of cover for weekly benefits is 104 weeks.

Sickness

Sickness cover can be written in conjunction with Group Personal Accident but not in isolation. This provides a weekly benefit and must be written on a 24 hour basis.

The normal period of cover is 52 weeks.

Business Travel

Business Travel is available as an additional cover to Group Personal Accident or as a stand alone cover. It provides cover for a number of incidents which may occur before or during a business trip.

The cover normally only operates for business trips but may be extended to include limited personal/leisure trips on request.

  • Personal Accident (for Business Travel only)
  • Medical Expenses
  • Baggage and/or Personal Belongings
  • Money
  • Passport Expenses
  • Cancellation, Curtailment or Change of Itinerary
  • Hijack
  • Travel Delay
  • Personal Liability
  • Legal Expenses
  • Lost Passport Expenses
