A. Yes.
A. Some types of Let properties may be acceptable under this contract.
A. Valuables comprise of stamp, coin or medal collections, curios, pictures, works of art, articles of gold, silver or other precious metal, jewellery or fur.
A. The standard policy cover and rates are based on the assumption that we are underwriting permanently occupied and furnished private dwellings. In these circumstances no alteration is required to the policy wording. However the proposer is requested to advise us if the premises are to be left unoccupied for more than 30 consecutive days as cover for malicious damage, escape of water, leakage of oil and theft or attempted theft is excluded after this period of unoccupancy.
If the property is to be unoccupied for more than 30 days we need to consider why the premises are being left unoccupied and for how long? What precautions are being taken to safeguard the premises and contents? Are the premises undergoing alteration, repair, renovation or being converted?
We can then consider what action we wish to take.
A. Valuables within the home have a SAL of 5% of contents sum insured, or £2000 whichever is greater.
Clothing & Personal Effects have a SAL of £1000 unless the C&PE sum insured exceeds £5000 when the SAL becomes £2500.
A. Cover is provided for students under their parents' policy (Clothing & Personal effects it they live with their parents out of term time). Check that the C&PE sum insured is adequate.
If cover is required in the students name in addition to existing Personal Belongings, we can add as a separate item of Items at University / College. The rate charged will be the same as the risk address rate for C&PE.
