Q. What do we cover on greencards?

A. Our policy is extended to full cover while the policyholders car is visiting the EU and certain other countries. Although all the countries concerned have signed an agreement whereby Green Cards are no longer required to pass from one country to another, we advise that if a policyholder is visiting a country which recently joined the EU on 1st May 2004, that you call your usual Customer Services area for a manual Green Card to be issued.

We also recommend that policyholders contact us before making their first trip to the continent so that they can obtain useful information concerning driving in Europe, addresses of who to contact in the event of an accident and a multi-lingual statement confirming their insurance statement.

Countries included in the territorial limits of the policy

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia*, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (inc. Monaco), Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy (inc. San Marino, Vatican), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (inc. Litchenstein).

Those shown in BOLD joined the EU on 1st May 2004 & require a manual Green Card to be issued to the policyholder.

* Croatia is not a member of the EU countries at this stage but is being included to bring our policies in line with our Commercial Motor Insurance policies.

As long as the policyholder's visit is confined to these countries, advise that there is no charge and provide a continental use pack.

Other Green Card Countries

Bulgaria, Israel, Morocco, Romania, Slovenia, Tunisia & Turkey.

Ask your local office for a Green Card, provide the policyholder a continental use pack.

Use of the vehicle for visits outside GB, NI, CI or IOM must be of a temporary nature, not exceeding 3 months in any one trip. Trips in excess of this must be referred to your usual Norwich Union contact.

Where a loading applies to the UK premium for accidents/losses or convictions this should be applied to the rates above.

A. No. Power Point Club is a one vehicle contract. Any additional vehicles should be processed as a separate new policy.

Top of page

A. There is no provision to cover Trailers or Horseboxes under the Power Point Club contract.

Q. Is laid up cover available?

A. Yes, laid up cover is available (except on Just Car), but you will not be able to process this on your software house system.

If a Vehicle requires laid-up cover, then the certificate should be recovered from the customer and retained on your clients file. You must then advise your regional Customer Services area and they will electronically note the clients policy.

When the request to reinstate cover is received a manual covernote must be issued to the customer and a copy sent to the regional Customer Service area, advising the period the vehicle has been Laid-up. The regional office will then calculate the RP required.

Top of page

Q. Can policies be suspended?

A. Unfortunately it is not possible to suspend cover under a Power Point Club policy when the vehicle has been sold. The policy must be cancelled and reissued when a new vehicle is purchased.

Top of page

Q. How do we obtain NCD proof?

A. NCD proof cannot be issued via your software system. NCD proof can only be issued once the policy shows as cancelled/lapsed. Requests should be made direct via your regional Personal Lines team.

Q. Can we match NUD quotes?

A. We can match NUD quotes, if on a like for like basis at renewal only. New business is not acceptable. We will only match those quotes obtained over the phone; quotes obtained via the Internet are not acceptable. Contact the E-broking Support team who will verify the details and issue an override code if necessary.

Q. Can we change the insured mid-term?

A. Unfortunately this is not possible. The policy will have to be cancelled and reissued in the new insured's name.

Top of page

Q. Can we process temporary alterations on Power Point Club policies?

A. Yes. However depending on the software system that you use, this will either be via your system or agreed and actioned manually, by Customer Services, by means of a covernote etc.

Top of page

Q. Can we allow protected NCD on a new case where there has been one at fault claims during the last two years?

A. Yes. This is only allowed if the proposer has had a fault claim within the two years immediately prior to inception. This claim will, however, count towards the two claims allowed in any five year period.

Q. When will I receive Electronic renewal invitations for Private Car?

A. Renewal premiums are calculated 29 days prior to the renewal date. Norwich Union sends this information direct to your software system/software provider the same evening.

Brokers who run the renewals report the following day are therefore assured of getting their renewal invitations as soon as they are available.

If you are unsure how to run this report, please refer to the specific instructions provided by your software house. Alternatively please contact e-broking support.
