Introduction to Commercial Insurance provides a broad outline of the commercial insurance market in the UK and uses case studies to explore the information required to underwrite the main classes of commercial insurance such as:

  • Legal expenses
  • Engineering.

Various elements are explored using case studies that include:

  • Range of perils
  • Descriptions of the property to be insured
  • Calculation of sums insured for property and business interruption
  • Limits of liability for Employer's Liability and Public Liability, and products
  • Comparisons between the 'package' and the 'commercial combined' policy
  • Types of construction
  • Heating systems

  • Post coding and how it affects underwriting a flood risk, a subsidence risk and a theft risk.
